The InstantDiscounts Browser Extension
"Quick Add Deal" is the extension our deal contributors use to add verified deals to InstantDiscounts.in in one click - straight from product pages on Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and AJIO, with affiliate links generated automatically. Contributors who opt in also act as price sensors, sharing the prices they see so our price history comes from real browsers.
An honest note before you install: this extension is not on the Chrome Web Store yet - it is installed by sideloading (loading it unpacked) and it requires an InstantDiscounts ingestion API key to submit deals.
It's built for InstantDiscounts team members and contributors, not general shoppers. If you just want great deals, browse today's verified deals instead - no extension needed.
What It Does
Automatic affiliate links
Product URLs are converted to affiliate links automatically (Amazon Associates tag or EarnKaro conversion), so attribution is preserved on every deal added through the extension.
Duplicate detection
Before submitting, the extension checks whether the product is already listed on InstantDiscounts.in, so the site stays free of duplicate deals.
Passive price history (opt-in)
Contributors who enable price sharing act as price sensors: when they browse an Amazon, Flipkart or Myntra product page, the extension reports the displayed price, MRP, title and image once per product per session. This builds real price history from real browsers - and it is off by default.
Configurable options page
API keys, affiliate settings and the price-sharing consent toggle live in a dedicated options page - contributors configure it once and the extension handles the rest.
Supported product pages: amazon.in, flipkart.com, myntra.com and ajio.com. The extension only activates on these stores and on instantdiscounts.in - it requests no access to other sites.
How to Install
Until it ships on the Chrome Web Store, the extension is installed as an unpacked extension. It takes about two minutes.
Get the extension folder
The extension lives in the chrome-extension/ directory of the InstantDiscounts repository. Clone or download the repo and note that folder's location.
Open Chrome's extension page
Go to chrome://extensions in Chrome (or any Chromium browser like Edge or Brave) and enable Developer mode using the toggle in the top-right corner.
Load unpacked
Click "Load unpacked" and select the chrome-extension/ folder. The InstantDiscounts icon appears in your toolbar - pin it for quick access.
Add your API keys
Open the extension's options page and enter your InstantDiscounts ingestion API key (required to submit deals) and affiliate settings. Without a valid key, submission is disabled.
Choose whether to share prices
The options page has a clearly labeled toggle: "Share prices I see with InstantDiscounts to build price history". It is off by default. Leave it off and the extension never sends anything you didn't explicitly submit.
Permissions & Privacy
The extension requests access only to the four supported shopping sites, EarnKaro (for affiliate link conversion) and instantdiscounts.in. It reads product details from the page you're viewing only when you use it, stores your API keys locally in Chrome storage, and sends data only to InstantDiscounts.in when you submit a deal.
Optional price sharing is strictly opt-in and off by default. If you enable it, the extension reports only what is displayed on Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra product pages you visit: the product title, price, MRP, image and URL - once per product per session, sent in the background without slowing the page. It never sends browsing history, search queries, cart contents, account details or any personal data, and turning the toggle off stops all passive reporting immediately.
Shared prices build public price history only: they are recorded as third-party observations and never mark a deal as merchant-verified. Every deal submitted through the extension still goes through our normal verification process before it is marked verified on the site - the extension speeds up submission, not verification.
